quicktime & itumes trouble

My QuickTime application or Itunes doesn't work. When i try to open it I get a error reading (The application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/system32/QuickTime.qts is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette). Can someone please help me with this problem so I can get it resolved.
