Pages of hx either multiply or disappear

On the website Neopets, using either FF or Chrome, if I sit on certain pages for a few minutes, my history of back pages multiplies with each automatic refresh. Also, recently, if I manually refresh certain pages, all my history disappears and I have no option of using the back button. I thought it was an add-on problem at first, but updating or uninstalling and reinstalling flash and shockwave hasn't helped. The support staff from the website have not responded. Any ideas?
