hello, i have a hp nc6400 laptop. i found it all beating up at the scrap yard. it had a broken screen and missing parts. i replace the screen bought a NEW charger and still no power at all so i was sure that it was the motherboard. i have bought one and still nothing so i believed that the seller sold me a faulty one but bought second one and still nothing, doesnt even charge or anything. what can it be? could it be the bios battery gone bad?

If there is no sign of life whatsoever you may be looking at a power issue,
an incorrect connection, a short circuit or if using the same processor in
the replacement MB a dead CPU.
Have you tried removing the battery and running direct from the AC adapter?
Also try removing the Ram and powering up, any change.

could it be the bios battery gone bad?

Possibly, dependent on what the answer is to the 1st question!

Depends, it may be the CPU shorting out.
Try removing the MB from the chassis and powering up using only
the AC adapter, do not connect anything else to the MB, let us
know the outcome.
