Hello,
I have an old laptop. Gateway T 1625. It will not start or allow me to use my recovery disks. I get the following error after the system attempts to read the first Disk:

Runtime error!
Program X: \Windows\system32\restore7.EXE

Abnormal Program termination

I also noticed when attempting to start the laptop with no Recovery disk I get the following error:

PXE - E61:Media Test Failure - Check cable
PXE - M0F:Exiting PXE ROM
Operating system not found

I cannot even install the operating system as it does not recognize any drivers on the disk. Could this be a hardware problem? Any ideas?

Kind Regards

I'm thinking your discs are bad or the cd/dvd drive is bad/ going bad. Maybe you can get another set of discs?

If cd/dvd drive is going bad, see if you can get a hold of an external cd/dvd drive.

Thanks so much - great idea. I will try an external DVD drive.
