I can't seem to remove Office XP with Front Page.

When I try with 'Add/Remove' I get 'Patch Package Can not be opened. .......'

I would like it removed b/c I have Off2010 installed & I think it may be interferring with it.
('Windows Istaller' keeps poping up and 'Preparing to Install' then nothing, except for more interruptions)

Otherwise things run fine.

I tried several suggestions so far including "Fix it" and regedit.

Any other solutions??

OK try this:

Download and install Revo Uninstaller
  • Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
  • Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
  • From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
  • Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
  • In the next window select the Advanced mode
  • Click Next to start uninstalling the program
  • Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
  • When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
  • Once complete, click Next, then Finish
  • Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

OK, I tried Revo

Although it is a nice program it still relies on a programs uninstaller.
In my case it is Windows Installer.

On the second step I received the same message "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

On the third step it found over 12,000 reg. keys and over 6,000 files and folders. And some of these were Off.2010!

So I'm back to square one!

OK, I got around to using the clean up utility.
It seemed to down load and run OK But the result is the same!

Anything else to try?

Download Unlocker

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?
It has many other flavors:

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Unlocker is the solution!

1. Simply right click the folder or file and select Unlocker

2. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear

3. Simply click Unlock All and you are done!

OK, Now it's just getting weirder!

First I can't get your link to open (page not found)
And then 'auto updates' keeps trying to download, and failing, a security patch KB2288608

AARRRRRRRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Update!

I tried another 'MS Fix It' 50123.

That seemed to work! I was able to remove Off. XP via "Add/Remove"
I'm planning to install Off. 2010 now.

We'll see how that goes.
