When I boot up my desktop gateway minitower, after I click owner, as the desktop is loading, I get a message says data not found - run time error. I have no idea what data is missing or which program is looking for the data. I have WinXP Professional with SP3 and I tried booting in safe mode. But that didn't help. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Your fix asks for a WIN XP CD and I bought this computer used (no CD) so that fix is out. Any other ideas???

2...one is borrow a cd from a friend or coworker...
second is to buy a cd from the manufacture that is capable of completely replacing the OS or if necessary repair the system
