Hello,

I have a Window XP desktop DELL Pentium 4 and it was infected with Alureon.A along with other trojans and as soon as I remove one, another comes in. Under the instructions I found online to remove trojans, I used Malwarebytes and scanned the computer in safe mode and removed the trojans that were found. Then I was told to download Microsoft security--it was from this program that I was aware my computer was infected with Alureon. Although it said that Alureon was removed along with other trojans, window still start up was really slow and initially only the background showed but that was fixed now. However, I am blocked from the web, emails and redirected to another site. The error message was "untrusted content" As for all of my messengers I was not able to get on at all and an error saying that it was because of connection. Also, when I try to open word or notebook sometimes it does not open.
When I read the forum "Help with removal of Trojan:Win32/Alureon.gen!I [Solved] " the person seemed to have similar symptoms like me and used combo-fix. I was not sure if I should try it because on its download page it said that I should only use it under the request of an experienced helper.


I also thought about reformatting my computer; however, the system restore is off because in the past it had a virus and I was told to turn it off until I could remove it---I was not sure if the system restore being off will cause the reformatting to go wrong. Also, I'm afraid that there might that the trojan is still in the system since I have reformatted my computer before (twice due to virus/trojans) and a couple of months later there's more trojans.

Please help me, this is preventing me from doing my school work =/

Do not close AVPTool or it will self uninstall, if it does uninstall - then just rerun the setup file on your desktop

Step 3

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.

• Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it
• Click the "Scan" button to start scan
• On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

Step 4

Please don't forget to include these items in your reply:

• TDSSKiller log
• AVPTool log
• aswMBR new log

When I downloaded the program & run it --there was an error in extracting the file (error 193) and was told to restart the computer. When I restarted and tried to extract it, 2 window popped up: "Previous applciation launch failed-- Information about the application state at the moment of failure is ready to be sent. Help us make this program better, send these files to Kaspersky lab for analysis in order to eliminate such errors in next product versions." Another window was the License agreement and when I accepted, the first tab said "automatic scan" and under that tab it said "ready to scan.

I'm not sure what you mean by "On the first tab select all elements down to Computer and then select start scan
"

The first tab said "automatic scan" and the second tab said manual disinfection" but neither have any elements for me to check. Do you mean check the elements under the "settings"
which is the first tab to the right?

As the scanning is being carried out, the virus removal tools detected malicous softwarre and wouldnt continue to complete the scan if it is not removed, should I skip --if so can all malicious sotfare be removed at the very end or does it have to be deleted as it is detected?

As I was scanning Kaspersky virus tool had a pop up on the side saying "databases obsolete" because " the databases that the application uses to protect your computer are obsolete. it is recommended to use the latest version of Kasperky virus Removal tool. Release date: 07/16/2011"

When I click on it , it directed me to the page for the download. On the pae it said that one of the known issues from that version is "system memory scan is unavailable in x64 versions of Window xp/vista/7 due to specific features of application system drivers" so I didn't download and just continued with the scan. Is that alright?

Let's try another tool

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

• Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and click Scan to run express scan. Click OK in pop-up window to allow scan.
• This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
• Once the short scan has finished, select Complete scan.
• Complete scan sometimes takes up to 3 hours to finish so please be patient.
• Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
• Click Yes to all if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
• When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list
• Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
• Close Dr.Web Cureit.
• Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
• Copy and paste that log in the next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.

NOTE. During the scan, pop-up window will open asking for full version purchase. Simply close the window by clicking on X in upper right corner.

my computer is half way done scanning (step 2)so should I finish that before trying the tool u just suggested or no?

OK. If you already running the scan then finish it and post just that log. Don't do Dr.Web scan if all goes fine.

It was the new Kaspersky scan that couldnt scan the memory so I didn't update it to taht and just used the old one for scanning
