Windows Explorer keeps crashing

I dont think its malware because i have been helped sort this out. If i try to switch between windows or applications Explorer keeps crashing/freezing and a window reports Explorer has stopped working. Its also taking long to open programs when i click on them. Whener i try to play dvd with Windows Media media just stops working without playing the DVD

Please help
