ive installed world of warcraft dvd which i recently purchased, then click on the shortcut it then tells me its downloading and installing the game, is this normal? please help as i have no idea whats going on

with online games like WOW that feature a client-application (= require that you install software at your computer), the software you buy in the stores will generally be an out-dated version - these games are updated regulary, but of course they won't replace the discs at the stores with new versions each and every time. Thus, when you have purchased and installed the game, it'll have to update itself to the newest version by downloading and installing the required patches, or downloading and installing the newest version of the client (I don't play WOW, so no certain wether it downloads patches, or the full new client each and every time).
In general, this sounds like perfectly normal behaviour for the game, and nothing to worry about.
