Reading your threads I gather you have encountered this before so hopefully you can help me. Started with a pop-up telling me I had been infected and then the background changed to black with an "infection" notice. Setting to change the background have completely dissapeared from the display box. Then homepage changed to about:blank and no amount of manipulation can change it back. I run practically a full suite of protection - AdAware, Win Patrol, Microsoft Antispyware, BHO Demon, Aluria, Spybot, Hijack Blaster, Spyware Blaster, Historykill and Hijack This. After reading a few threads I have already downloaded LSPFix.exe and KillBox.exe. After much dicking around I have managed to get a photo out of a photoshop application loaded onto the background but the real controls are still missing from the display settings. That is all I have been able to achieve. So i guess I am ready to go, just need someone a lot smarter than me to point me in the right direction.

That little Scotty dog informs me that the following unidentified active tasks are running:-

tmlisten.exe
msole32.exe
shnlog.exe
intmon.exe

it also advises that an applcation called ctfmon.exe will automatically run on startup

My HijackThis log file is below:-
