hi everyone,

firtsly i have to start by saying i am not very tech savvy so thanks for all yuor help. i have read the other topics with similar problems but i think mine may be a little different.
so the conputer when it starts doesn't boot up and has a blank screen and blinking cursor.
however, ( and this is probably not a good thing to do) when i pull the battery out and then restart, it is fine and windows loads and i can use the computer as normal. how can i fix the problem?

thanks for all your advice.

This is a hardware issue. Not an XP issue.

You could try replacing the battery.
