OK lets run a quick check on the MBR now, and check that there is nothing hidding there. Have you had any further alerts about ramnit
Download aswMBR.exe ( 1.8mb ) to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it
Click the "Scan" button to start scan
On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

OK MBR is good, are you still getting the redirects? If so are they in firefox or IE and also do they send you to the same site every time
It looks as though Avast stopped the virus from actually infecting your system
Could you run a fresh OTL scan for me please and include all users but no requirement for the initial scan script

Its in Firefox and no they are different sites. Its not every time though.

You have been very lucky - normally with a Ramnit infection the only sure fire way to kill it is a reformat, but as it never got a grip on your system all is good
Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
Run OTL
Uninstall ComboFix
Remove Combofix now that we're done with it.
Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.
We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application.
Upgrading Java:
SPRING CLEAN
Download and run Puran Disc Defragmenter
For the first run I would recommend a boot defrag and disk check
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:
Malwarebytes. Update and run weekly to keep your system clean
Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link
It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.
To keep your operating system up to date visit

Keep safe

- You will then recieve a message saying Combofix was uninstalled successfully once it's done uninstalling itself.

- Open My Computer.
- Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
- Select the View Tab.

I have done the first OTL fix , unistalled Combi fix and done the second OTL clean up but I still have f6m7thy, aswMBR and Goored fix on my desktop. Shall I delete these?
And also my IE is not working now

OK the simple solution for this problem is to remove and then re-install IE8, do you know how to do that ?
Go to add/remove programs and select windows updates - locate IE8 and uninstall this will then revert to IE7. Once done re-install IE8
