Hello,

A few weeks ago, I installed a Linksys AE2500 wireless adapter onto my computer. It's worked fine for the past few weeks until today.

When I turned on my computer, I could not connect to the internet at all. For some reason, the adapter would not identify my network. I've tried uninstalling the software and drivers that came with the adapter itself. However, when prompted to insert the adapter into a USB port, I did so; yet, the installation wizard refused to identify it.

I've tried plugging the adapter into other USB ports on my computer, but nothing worked. When I tried updating the adapter through the Device Manager, I received the following message: "a device attached to the system is not functioning".

I'm under the impression that something got corrupted, but I'm not sure what specifically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You've done a good job of troubleshooting. Seems the last resort is to try a known good wireless card.

And/or plug the AE2500 into another computer and see if you can get it to work.

After much troubleshooting, I decided to set the computer and OS to factory defaults, and it seems to have done the trick, as the adapter is working again.

This can be locked, and thanks for the help.
