Hey,

Got a question about the classic view for WinXP. Where is the setting located to change to the old style windows explorer? I am trying to get it to behave and look like the classic style? I have WinXP SP2.

I have gone to the Folder Options>General tab. Under the Tasks, it shows to options, when i click "Use Windows classic folders" it does not change the windows explorer. It stays with the new look and behavior. :tazz:

I have a laptop with WinXP SP1, and the Windows Explorer looks and behaves the classic way. I found that setting way back when i set up windows, now can't remember where it is. Did they take the classic explorer view out of SP2 ???

Thanks in advance for your help.

gerryf,

thanks for the reply. i have tried what you wrote, i did not see the difference. I am not looking to turn off visual effects that doesnt bother me. What bothers me is the way windows explorer behaves in the left pane, where you have the directories. I like the old style with the lines connecting the folers, and when i click on them it doesnt expand the tree. where in xp, when you click on the foler, it expands the tree.

any other ideas ??

thanks

Edit: June 1, 2005

I finally came across the setting I was looking for. So I thought I would post the answer to let someone else know.

You have to go to Control Panel>Folder Opitons>View> You have to uncheck the "Display simple folder view in Explorler's Folders list". If you have that uncheked then you get, what i call anyways, the Classic View in Explorer. If it is checked then the Explorer behaves the "new" way.

Peace Out

:tazz:
