Moniter Help Please

I have had this problem for a week now and tried everything,maybe someone knows a solution.My moniter only displays black and white,,i tried system restore,settings for color,I have a Dell 17''and i would hate to have to buy a new one,i'm sure theres a answer somewhere PLEASE HELP!!

Please do the following and supply the requested information as needed. If you

Do not attempt any steps unless instructed or ask before to
make sure they will not cause any further issues.

First step is to try the monitor on another known working system.
If you don't have another desktop then you could use a laptop. This will tell you if it is the monitor or the system you have it attached to.
