Nancy drew installation help

I just bought the Nancy drew Shadow at waters edge. I put the first disk into the disk drive then i clicked onto my computer and clicked saw1 (shadow at water)and it said preparring to install then out of no where it stopes and puts " The windows Installer Service could not be accessed. THis can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." please help, also I would appretiate if it was step by step instructions
