I have always had a dual monitor setup at home and at work/office. Unfortunately, at home I run 2 19" SVGA displays and have not yet upgraded to flat panel LCD's. I recently (last week) purchased my old desktop (sans monitors) from my current job. The problem is, the video card installed has one DVI-D connection and one SVGA connection. I've searched high and low and haven't been able to devise a solution but am wondering if there is any way I can make this work that doesn't include my buying a new video card (the one installed is great) or purchasing at least one flat panel w/ DVI-D connection?

Won't work that way I'm afraid. Just because the video card has 2 connections (DVI & D-SUB) doesn't make it a dual monitor card. You can only use one or the other of the connections.

The only way round this possibly, would be to use the D SUB (SVGA) connection, then buy a second video card to use with the second monitor. You need to be careful though as not all cards will support this configuration

It does have dual monitor capabilities. This is the PC I've used at my day job for the past 3 years with a dual display setup.

Yep, that's exactly what I need. But [bleep], not for $400 If I was going to buy that, I'd just put those dollars toward a kickass LCD with a DVI-D connection. Thanks for the link regardless.

Thanks. I've already looked at some of those (actually ordered one for $2 when I first discovered the problem), but my problem is, I have DVI-Digital not Analog. I've learned there's no such thing as a DVI-D to VGA adapter. That's why I was asking around to see if anyone knew of any alternatives. So far the only thing that will probably definitley work is the item Redwontdo posted. I'll revert to using one monitor before I spend $400 to adapt the second, though.

If anyone thinks of anything or has any other suggestions I'd be most grateful. If not, thanks to all of you for trying to help.

Hey, what about a distribution amplifier/signal splitter? Use the one output for both your monitors? They are not real cheap, but not as much as $400. either.
