I've been trying to get rid of a virus that I got a while back, and it kept coming back. I figured out that this Trojan had changed all of my folders on my USB drives (phone SD card, Flashdrives, external harddrives, iPod) to shortcuts. Each one is a shortcut (application) with this code in it:

%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c "start %cd%RECYCLER\0x5BAFA4F2.exe &&%windir%\explorer.exe %cd%[FolderName]

While I deleted the /RECYCLER/ folder from all of my drives that contained the EXE the shortcut was pointing to, my folders are still shortcuts. How do I put them back the way they were? I don't understand how a virus was able to remove the folders and replace them with shortcuts to the folders.

After I click on one of these shortcuts, Google Chrome gives me an error message every time I open a new tab, and my computer in general behaves a lot slower than normal.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect that you have some malware on your computer causing issues that we are not able to solve through means we can use here in the Tech Forums. I suggest you read the 'Start Here' topic found HERE. With these self-help tools you have a high chance of fixing the problems on your own. If you are still having problems after following Step 3 of the guide, continue with Step 4 and 5 and post in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run any programs, Please create a topic stating what you have tried so far and that you are unable to run any programs. Also, Please do NOT post the logs in this thread.

If you are still having issues after the malware expert gives you a clean bill of health, Please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Hi, I started a new topic on this, but I forgot I started one long ago.

I reformatted my computer, but somehow it came back when I plugged in one of my USB drives.
