This is a packard bell with pre-installed windows XP. There is no recovery disc. On boot I get amibios text screen f2 for setup f12 boot from network
f8 for BBs popup f11 forboot from restore partition.I assume this is boot sequence as it detects drives but then says that Hard disk is locked. I found the password to unlock but that takes me to start windows normally etc. whichever option is chosen the computer says "windows cannot start file is missing or corrupt"
<windows root>\system32\hal.dll.please re-install. I cannot access anything dvd is 1st boot device but just looks and carries on to next device(hdd).

any help would be appreciated
