my laptop's video card is no longer working.

I need to rescue the files in the hard drive before I pull it out, reformat it and use it as an external.

Any suggestions?

thx.

Take the hard drive out. If it's a SATA drive it will fit in the SATA connectors on any PC motherboard.
Alternatively just make it an external, and copy the data off before you wipe it.
