windows 7, cannot connect to internet

Hi I'm new to this forum website, and I'm in some kind of problem with my Acer desktop computer. It first started out with a startup repair loop (which was fixed later on) and then when we finally got it back to normal, it was more slower than usual. I couldn't play my computer games like before (Mabinogi of Nexon)... Next day its not slow anymore except, It can't even connect to the internet anymore. The modem is fine (Qwest) and its not wireless... What is the problem? Please help and thank you for your time ^^
