If you have already tried that there is no point I am sorry I did not know you had

When you said it was better with Norton disabled. did you then use the Norton removal tool.

After doing that , check again your settings that you are on automatic for IP and DNS on IPV4 and 6, Renew Ipconfig and flush your DNS cache.
and try again.

That is cmd prompt
type
ipconfig /renew
and
ipconfig /flushdns

I have done that too. I think maybe it is an IP problem nothing we are doing seems to really be solving the problem. I am sure you are as frustrated as I

I have gotten the below via another Moderator and hopefully the file will attach.

It will give him lots of information concerning his Network Settings. Perhaps a service is missing or stopped. With this information he may have a better view of the situation.

Download the enclosed file. [attachment=53166:test.zip]

Save and extract its contents to the desktop. Once extracted Right Click on the Test.bat file and select "Run as an Administrator". It will produce a report. Post its contents in a reply.

Click on the orb and type services.msc on the search box and press Enter. Scroll down to the following services:

Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service
WebClient

Double-click on these and Start the service. If no error is returned, test the computer and let me know the outcome. If an error is returned, post it in your next reply.

On the tunneling service it said it could not start because it was used by another program. The webclient started just fine.

Every network service is in place and you have a good connection to the internet. Are you still experiencing the DNS issue?

Tonight I had to reload the startup page about 5 times but it connected. Once I was in it stayed connected tonight and I did not have to reload pages as I was moving from site to site. The error message that I kept getting was the same one I posted before. On Friday I am going to be leaving until Monday, so I am not ignoring your advice if I do not respond for a couple of days.
