Mailbox won't open

I have windows outlook 2007 and my mailbox won't load, I get the fault display box informing me to use the inbox repair scanexpst. When I use this the computer freezes. I have tried it numerous times and even left it running to see if it would get past the initialising stage but no luck. I know the mail file is big, I was deleting files when it crashed and now can't access. Help please
