I've attempted to fix a friend's laptop that was overheating, and as some of you may know, it is a major pain on the CQ50 just to get to the fan. Well, it turned out the fan housing was full of dust and the heat slightly drooped the aluminum shield down to touch the fan. I bent it back to where I figured it should be, blew out all the dust, put 'everything' back together, but had issues with the tiny ribbons with the microscopic black clips. The ribbon for the power switch and touch pad must not be getting a good connection & the fan is running, but still scraping slightly :) ugh

So, I'm sure I can fix the fan issue, but do you guys have any special tricks? And how about those ribbons? The really tiny blacks clips go on pretty loose and the ribbon remains loose too. Just wondering if putting those in with a small cut of paper to snug it (on the non-contact side) is a good choice in this situation?

Thanks in advance

Issue is now resolved. Computer is in the trash... :)

I figure it is far less headache to buy my friend a new laptop that has an accessible fan door.
