Hello, I can use my laptop for work to connect to their server with no problem but I cannot connect to the internet at all and I get the above error message. Even if I disconnect from the work server, I still get the message. Im typing on another computer in the home as my work laptop cannot connect to send this message. Help

I also did a restore to no avail, also the message on the diagnostic log says basically HTTP: Error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com. The server name or address could not be resolve

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents in a reply here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

That says you are getting out to yahoo.com with no problem.

So, what exactly can you not do?

Try booting to Safe Mode with Networking, see if Internet Explorer works there?
