Recently, my computer was making a strange noise, so my dad decided to fix it. Apparently it was the graphics card. Anyways, while he was looking for what made the sound, he was touching the cards and such, while the computer was open. He told me to reboot because the sound stopped working.

Now anyways, here is the real problem.

When I start my computer, the regular BIOS messages appear and function correctly. When I arrive to the Windows XP logo screen, I see the logo and the whole thing very pale (you can barely see it) and there is no bar with colors passing through it (green on Home Edition, blue on Professional.) The computer has frozen. I waited for 15 minutes and nothing has happened.

I tried it several times, so then I decided to do F8. I can access Safe Mode properly but I can't get anything else to function.

Is this problem related to my hardware? I can run Starcraft in Safe Mode correctly, but I cannot even access my computer the normal way.

If it was me I would remove the video card and reseat it ,power up the PC and check to make sure the fan is spinning.

If its not then its overheating and windows is having a problem loading the drivers for it because the video card cant handle the resolution
