hi, i constantly get error code 800B0100 when trying to dl KB2556532 sec update for win7 pro with sp1.
win firewall and win sec essentials are disabled.
i have run win hotfix Windows6.1­KB947821­v14­x86.msu stand alone and tried to get standalone Windows6.1­KB2556532­x86.msu to work - no joy

the relevant cbs.log entries for 800B0100 are:

go here and follow the instructions toSystem Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7.
You may become unable to install updates from Windows Update, due to inconsistencies in file data or registry data. By installing the System Update Readiness Tool, you can resolve these inconsistencies and you will be able to install updates from Windows Update. After the System Update Readiness Tool is installed, install updates again from Windows Update

hi happyrock, i presume the link to 'here' (missing) refers to KB947821­v14­x86.msu, which i have already run (see my post), but i'll re-dl and try again

try updatin again...

This describes how to read the Windowsupdate.log file.

To view the log file, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type windowsupdate.log, and then click OK.


1. Open the Windowsupdate.log log file in Notepad.
2. On the Edit menu, click Find, and then search for the specific error message.

* FATAL
* WARNING

Note The last fatal displays the final error message. This final error message may have been caused by a failure that is described earlier in the Windowsupdate.log log file.

copy the last couple of fatal errors from the log and post the back here

I've tried everything. I managed to get SP1 installed (don't ask how). But I still get failure reports for several updates. What can I do to solve the problem with updating?
