Matrix looking screen

I have a HP Pavillion DV2500 laptop. It starts as normal but after after a few minutes, the screen looks like the film Matrix with lines and flickering. This is the only way i can describe it. I have tried restoring and a virus check but with no joy. If anyone has any suggestions i would very much appreciate it. Many thanks. Jo
