I cannot find the Extras.txt report. it did not automatically pop up. There is an Extras.txt on my desktop created and last moidifwed on 12/31/11, which is from when I ran OTL for the inital posting before I started to receive help.

What symptoms do you still have?

Are you booting into normal mode? If not what is the issue?

I know this was a lot of work and we still have some major pieces to address.

I've rebooted in normal mode.

I am not experiencing any google redirects or receiving any odd virus warnings like Win 7 Internet Security 2012.

However, in my Control Panel -> All control Panel Items -> Notification Area Icons
there is still an item:
jvb.exe (Win 7 Internet Security 2012)
This looks suspicious.

I am running MBAM to see if it still detects any issues.
I am also running the trend micro officescan.
It apepars that last night 1/3/12 between 11:53 and 11:57 trend micro officescan logged several virus/malware entries.
TROJ_FAKEAV.DAM and TROJ_GEN.RC1C1LT both located in C:\Windows\assembly\temp\U\800000cb.$ (or a similar location only differing by a few letters)
There are no logs after these. These notifications were the same ones that started showing up when I initally saw that the computer became infected.

I will let the scans run overnight and post the findings in the morning as I think they will take an hour at least.

before I went to bed, trend micro office scan Real Time scan detected HKTL_COINMINER (Some sort of spyware/grayware). Not sure if this is related to what we were dealing with.

I will post the full officescan and MBAM results in the morning.

Also, the trend micro office full system scan completed with nothing found.

HOWEVER: The real-time monitor for trend micor office scanner continue to detect
TROJ_FAKEAV.DAM and TROJ_GEN.RC1C1LT both located in C:\Windows\assembly\temp\U\800000cb.$

Also, everytime I start IE, I get a message that
"Your homepage settings have changed

Would you like to:
Use homepage setting:
Use new setting
Use computer's original homepage"

The page that comes up when I start IE is "about:blank"

I assume this is some leftover part of the malware that is involved in the redirects.

I downloaded aswMBR. Upon running, it promots a window:

"This application can use the Avast! Free Antivirus for scannin. It is recommended to download it for better detection results. Would you like to download the latest Avast! virus definitions?"

Do you want me to say yes or is this a different program?
