Attempted to convert from .wav to .mp3, now won't play at all...

I attempted to convert a .wav file to an .mp3 file with an online converter and now the file won't play at all. I need this recording to transcribe board meeting minutes. Any direction would be helpful as I am clueless on where to go from here.
