Hi Please help...I am in St.Petersburg Russia. My mobile phones roaming is turned off and wifi is on but for the life of me it is not connecting although you can see it is trying to.....I'm in Russia for 3 months and need to get this sorted...my network provider cannot help me.

What sort of wifi are you trying to connect to? My galaxy S has issues switching between networks, I usually have to disable the wireless and then reenable.

Are you trying to connectto a secured wifi connection? If yes you should be aware of the encryption otherwise if its a open network you should be able to connect to it, taking into consideration how much far you are from the signal source.

That's about it. Check if the wifi can be access without a security code. If it can be access, check how far you are away from the signal. Go to areas that usually have wifi connections like cafes, libraries, restaurants and other public places.
