hello there, i have a compaq Evo D510 CMT. it says i have a pentium® 4 cpu 2.40 GHZ and 2.39GHz 1.00 GB of RAM. am i able to upgrade the cpu and the ram? many thanks maria

Neither upgrade will make the PC into a gaming machine, what do you intend using the PC for in the future?

just geniral use, emails. ebay. writing, downloading music, surfing the web ect, mant thanks maria

What you have now is equal to the required tasks and the minor improvements that you could make would not make a whole lot of difference Im afraid.

Depending on your power supply adding a pci video card and an additional 1GB may make more sense, leave the CPU as it is http://www.amazon.co...8737888&sr=1-19

That depends, if it does what you need then why bother?
Your OP asked about potential CPU and Ram upgrades and that was what I answered, for me to say outright that you needed a new PC would have been neither helpful or correct.
