SFC can't fix Tunmp.sys

Hello I have a working pc and cleared out many viruses. No signs of problems now. I ran chkdsk successfully. Everything works, except two things:

1). Windows Defender won't start and doesn't exist. On startup shows:
"Error Code 0x800106ba"
When I tried setting it to automatic in Services, or tried starting it by hand, it shows 'Error: 126 failed to start module'.

I also tried this:

I was able to successfully input some of the files,
But I received this error : "The module failed to load. The specified module could not be found"
for the files:
wucltui.dll, wuweb.dll, initpki.dll.


2). Whenever I run SFC /Scannow, it cannot fix repairs and each time the log reports the same problem, something to do with Tunmp.sys

The CBS log is attached.

What antivirus protection and what Firewall are you using please, also what if any other protections programs including anti-spyware do you have installed.

I only have one program, after a very long phone call with Microsoft support, and it's Microsoft Security Essentials, since it found viruses last time, when no other scanner did.

Well the first thing to tell you is and I am surprised Microsoft did not mention it to you, if you discussed the issue - Microsoft Security Essentials by design, disables Windows defender.

The second aspect the error on the SFC,
The process Microsoft Tunnel Interface driver belongs to the software Tun Miniport adapter

Go to Device manger, Network adaptors and see you have any warning against the entry, or indeed any entry, the click the view tab, click show hidden devices and then check again.

Do these two topics and the one here refer to the SAME computer.

If so, please do NOT start and have running contemporaneously three topics on the SAME computer, as anything one member suggests may not work with what is suggested elsewhere and additionally YOU cannot possibly run three topics efficiently.

My apologies, yes this is the same pc, but since I have backups of all the system states for which I have created separate threads for, I thought that keeping them separate would help to find a resolution to one of them faster.

I suspect that you have some malware on your computer causing issues that we are not able to solve through means we can use here in the Tech Forums. I suggest you read the 'Start Here' topic found HERE. With these self-help tools you have a high chance of fixing the problems on your own. If you are still having problems after following Step 3 of the guide, continue with Step 4 and 5 and post in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run any programs, Please create a topic stating what you have tried so far and that you are unable to run any programs. Also, Please do NOT post the logs in this thread.

If you are still having issues after the malware expert gives you a clean bill of health, Please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
