I bought an HP laptop, with windows vista, a while back ( Fall2009) and since then I upgraded it ( using a cracked copy ) to windows7. While I was running windows 7, i caught a malware virus( blue screen of death) and had to switch to Linux( ubuntu). Since then I have been using ubuntu and recently, through the school's engineering department, I obtained another copy of windows7, but this one was cracked as well. So I was wondering if it is possible for me to reset my laptop back to windows vista (with a legit copy and not a crack one)?
Thanks
Edit : Specs for my laptop
Processor: AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-5 2.20Ghz
RAM : 3.00GB (2.75 GB Usable)
System type : 32-Bit Operating system

You provided everything but the model number  which is what is needed to find the users manual which should tell how to restore to factory state, if the Recovery partition is still on the hard drive. If it's not then you need to buy the recovery disc set from the manufacturer or purchase a copy of Vista or better yet Windows 7.

The full model number should allow us to find the users guide on the HP web site.

Look at the computer itself. It will be on the front or top or back somewhere.
