OK, here is the PCPitStop results you requested. I will be performing my own scans later this evening, and will let you know if anything comes up. Thanks again for all that you are doing!

Would you kindly run your scans first.
If there is any suggestion of anything amiss, your best action is to follow my earlier advice, as any changes I advise on the Pitstop results are best left until you have done so

If you find no evidence to suggest that your concern has any foundation then please continue here for the time being and forward me URL of the results of Pitstop.

OK, my scans showed absolutely nothing. I don't know what the problem is/was. I guess it's just an old machine! :P

Leaving aside just for the moment the parental permissions issue and looking at Pitstop
I would advise your consideration of the following

1. You appear to have a toolbar from Visicom media
I would recommend you see this
http://www.mywot.com...isicommedia.com

If this is not vital to you I would recomemend its uninstall

2. Clean your browsing - completely, remember please that this will delete any saved passwords for websites. It will not effect your bookmarks Favourites etc.

3. Run TFC please downloading it from here
http://www.geekstogo...er-by-oldtimer/

Well, I did as you instructed though, TFC quit responding both times I tried to run it. Now, when accessing the internet, most pages look very strange. (Large font, minimal images, etc..) I have had this issue before with TFC and OTL. I'm not sure why but, they don't seem to work on this PC. Any suggestions?

I think we need to start again at a basic level

1. Run chkdsk /r on C Drive please
You may do this by going to Start (Windows Button)
type in the search box
cmd
when that appears at the top
right click and click run as adminstrator
When the cmd window opens
type
cd \
you should now be at the C:\> prompt
type
chkdsk /r
agree to run on restart and do so please

When it has finished and it is a five stage check please go Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer
When that opens in the left pane expand windows logs and click application
When that has loaded in he right pane click Find
type
chkdsk
When it has found the entry, click on the Details tab on the central window, expand event viewer to full screen and check that it is the chkdsk results for the check you have just run.
Then click copy in the right pabe and paste to a doc and then copy and paste the results to your reply please.
Please do copy and paste and not attach as a file that I have to open. Thanks.

2. After chkdsk
Go back to cmd and on the C:\ prompt
type
sfc /scannow

The results of the check will be shown when it is completed, what we are looking for is that NO integrity violations were found

If there are, run it again please
Please report what the message is on both runs.

3. Download this please
  • Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso VEW and save it to your Desktop:
  • Double-click VEW.exe
  • Under 'Select log to query', select (as appropriate):
    • Application
    • System
  • Under 'Select type to list', select (as appropriate):
    • Error
    • Information
    • Warning
On the first run please select only ERROR and only Application and please post that as the actual results
Run again please on ERROR and System and post those please
I will ask for others if I need them.
If you select Error Warning and Information it will swamp us.
Then use the 'Date of events' or 'Number of events' as follows:

Either:
  • Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 3 in the 1 to 20 box (or any number from 1 to 20)
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.
  • Click the radio button for 'Date of events' PLEASE USE THE DATE selection.
In the From: boxes type (presuming the crash happened today) a date FOUR days ago please
In the To: boxes type today's date (presuming the crash happened today) TODAYS DATE please.
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.
Please post the Output log in your next reply
as a copy and paste pls of the opened log.

4. Is this the same computer where you have been to our Malware forum on a number of occasions please and it is also the same computer on which at one time a power issue was suspected.

ok, so I was able to follow a few of the steps you suggested. I have posted as much info as possible. upon trying to run the VEW.exe, I encountered some problems. Every time I trie dto run the program, it stated that the "From" date was invalid. I did not continue with the second step of this process, just for safety.
As for previous problems in which I have posted about, yes, I have posted regarding this PC. No, it is not the same PC in which I was having the power supply issue. Most of the Malware issues were with another PC, but, I'm sure I have had one or two with this particular PC.

Go to Event Viewer please
expand windows logs
click application on left pane
when that log loads
click on the heading of the main window LEVEL
that will sort the log according to level
ERROR will now be at the top. If it is not click LEVEL again
Now look for errors with a task attached.
Generall speaking you may not boether too much with event id 72 and no task attached.

Examine your errors to see if there is a recurring error
Do the same with the system selection on the left pane.

OK, I have noticed quite a few recurring errors in the application and system events. There are so many, I copied the log for your viewing, if you need it. The most common ones (though there were literally 1000's) in application were SQLANY 10.0, and CAPI2. The system events were abundant, and varied. Though I did notice recurrences, it was very confusing, and I had trouble copying a log. Seems that Service Control Manager Eventlog was prevalent in the list. It also had varied id's associated with it. Ntfs with an id of 55 was also quite common, as was Terminal Services-Local Session Manager, and Group Policy. I wish I had more info regarding these logs but, they were so extensive, I felt like I was reading Japanese! Please let me know what you would like me to do next. Talk to you soon.

It would really help if you could get VEW to run, as that puts them in an easy to read format
Could you please try once more.
May I suggest you use any two days when you know you have had the problem

NOTE

Have I found it, or did you post the wrong chkdsk results

expand event viewer to full screen and check that it is the chkdsk results for the check you have just run.
