hi all im new to the forum, forgive me if i brake any rules unknowingly.

so here is the breakdown of my problem. i have a small network at my work. we are using an smc modem, as our internet connection. i have no problem finding that using the ip 192.168.2.1 (which is its default). now attached to this via ethernet we have a linksys wap54g wireles router. i should be able to connect to this using the ip 192.168.1.1 however when i try, it always just comes up with nothing. the odd thing is that i can see that ip on my network using an ip scanning program. also i can connect to it for internet aces, but i cannot connect to it via ip in order to access its admin section. i have tried resetting the router to no avail.

(up date)

i have also tried disconnecting the linksys router from the network and connecting my computer directly via ethernet. i only obtained the same results. namely nothing.

any help on this would be amazing thanks again.

According to the manual:

How to Access the Web-Based Utility
To access the web-based utility of the Access Point, launch
your web browser. In the Address field, enter the Access
Point’s default IP address, 192.168.1.245, or the IP address
you entered during the Setup Wizard. (Should you need to
learn what IP address the Access Point presently uses, run
the Setup Wizard again. It will scan the Access Point and
give you its IP address.) Press Enter.

Just to add a quick way to find out the correct address of your router rather than scanning the network.

Right click on your network adapter and select "Status".
Click on the "Details" button.
Your router will be the IP listed next to "Default Gateway"
