What is the very very last thing XP does before switch off ?

Does anybody know what XP does immediately before turning the power off ?
I get Saving your settings, Closing network connections, Windows is shutting down, followed perhaps one minute later by a reset sent to my Skype B2K box, but nothing more and no more disc activity, and it never switches off.

As I described in my previous thread, which seems to have died, the switch-off works just fine from Safe mode.
