I am getting a blue screen with the following error
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xF797971D,0xF78F1A10,0X00000000)
*** atapi.sys - Address F797971D base at F796F000, DateStamp 4802539d
I can only boot up in safe mode with networking

This may be caused by malware. Several threads I found with the same BSOD we caused by malware. It would be worthwhile for you to go to the Virus, Spyware, Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.

Come back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems.

Ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, VIPRE Rescue and now able to boot up normally sometimes. But when I try to run OTL,exe.OTL.com,OTL.scr I get the blue screen.

Post your info in the malware forum and they will be able to hep you run OTl or an alternative.
