Hi all ive tried the reboot and disable thing it shows a ? icon in device manager and I cant get it to install a flash stick to save some pics before I reinstall the os. is there anything that rings a bell to this?? Its an old inspiron laptop 6000 and if I load an os its gonna be fresh because it has so many downloaded programs over the yrs its taken days to remove them all. Im just about at the end of my patience with this so if anyone has a suggestion im listening.

Thanks Dean Ive also posted a OTL log in the xp forum to check for any last traces of garbage. same machine different problems Not double dipping here. thanks
