Have you gone through the Malware Forum sections on the How Tos about removing malware? I have M$ Office 2007 on a Vista 64-bit machine, but never had a problem after any updates from Micro$oft for it. I do use CCleaner along with a 2nd party defrag program. I do clean up the Hard Drive and Registry periodically and this may be of some help although a suddenly slow computer is a sign of malware .

Hi dispatch2012! Welcome to G2G!
From what I can see, update KB2412171 caused lots of slow performance problems.
Is that one of the updates you installed? (You can find the updates you have installed by going to Control Panel and then Programs and Features and then clicking on 'View installed updates' on the left-hand pane.)
