Friday evening or night my internet started to lag. I noticed by the stream i was watching kept lagging. I didnt pay much attention. It was the first of the month, so maybe internet service was doing something. Or it's jsut random lag that will go away. But it's still there, and only on my computer. I just used my 360 for about an hour and everything was normal. I restarted my computer several times today. Just went to speedtest.net, did 3 or 4 tests, and got horrible readings. I got 0.4 - 0.6 d/l speed, and upload speed is half of that.

I'm using firefox. JUst checked exporer and same lag there. Trying to get on speedtest.net in explorer.

and btw, for about 1-2 weeks, my computer has been going slower. i may have to just reformat. I did try this IDE reinstall method. It worked awhile ago but not this time

Just DONT us the registry cleaner function of CCleaner unless you know what you are deleting exactly!!

Then open ccleaner hit the tools button then startup second one down below uninstall then in the bottom right hand corner of ccleaner hit save to text file.Save it to your desktop and post the startup.txt here in your next reply.


Hit the start button in lower left hand corner. Then in the run box type msconfig, then hit the services tab then put a check mark in hide microsoft services what is listed there,after hiding microsoft services?Please post back to us in a vertical list.

alrite the problem still exists but VERY INCONSISTENLY GOD DAAAAAAAAAAAAM, and i think its spreading to my xbox360. didnt notice anything when i was playing a game, but when i streamed a video it kept loading itself. i tried another it wouldnt even bother to load, sent me back to the dashboard

i think i found the problem and it was so simple, i thought i already did it. after i reconnected all my modem/router wires, the lag stopped. speed's back to normal. i waited a few days to make sure it's not a fluke. i could've sworn i unplugged everything before. oh well, thx for the help

A couple things you can do to speed your machine up.


Lets change your dns setting to a faster more secure connection.

Disable eveything from startup except your AV and your wireless device.




Run CHKDSK /R In a command prompt window. Hit the start button then type cmd in the run box when the command prompt opens type or copy and paste the following. CHKDSK /R Reply Y when asked if you want this to happen on the next boot.Now Type Exit and Reboot your machine.





Download Autoruns and Autorunsc unzip Autoruns to your desktop run it.See any entries that read file not found when you see them right click and select delete do this only for the entries that read file not found also uncheck any scheduled task that are set to run on your machine,close the program.
