connected to the internet but internet explorer does not work

my computer was working fine a few weeks ago but now I can't go on the internet even though it says that I am connected. There is also this thing that tests my internet connection and I saw that it failed the ping test and passed every other test. I thik thats why it does not work but does anyone know a way to fix this. :help: :help: :help:

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is provide the model name or series number (not serial) providing these details will enable others to better assist you.

Was really hoping there was some sort of answer to this as i am having the same problem.. been googling and googling and have found no answers that apply to me

When you start your own thread please provide the following info.

1.The make and model of your machine.
2.The exact problems that you are having.
3.Provide the following logs in your reply to me.
4.You may need to transfer these files via cd/dvd or usb stick from a working machine,if you are not able to get on the internet at all with your machine.

6.Prior to posting here did you try a system restore to a point when everything was ok?

Please Download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue.


Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Please download Download MinitoolBox and run it.


Checkmark following boxes:


Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)



Click Go and post the result.
