problems with my desktop

I turned on my computer and it now has no desktop
when i right click to properties the only two tabs in the window that comes up
display properties is screen saver and settings
so i went through the control panel way through display but its the same

Have an On-line scan at this sites: Trend Micro or Panda Scan.
REBOOT

* start > run > regedit > then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
can you enumerate what items are listed in there?
