I had a bunch of about 100 old files transfered onto my new computer and they were fine for a while. I was listening to the songs and looking at the pictures etc, then they just vanished. All that's left are 2 songs and 2 photos....

Are they gone forever??

Please help me as soon as you can, I'm petrified that I've lost all my writing.

Email me if you like, [email protected]

Thank you sweethearts.

File recovery is a possibility, try not to write new files onto the partition with missing files until you've tried recovery.

It depends how valuable the files were as to how far you wish to go in recovering them. The remedies can be very expensive if a professional firm is used to recover the files, but cheaper software recovery tools can be tried.

If you attempt recovery using software, then the software must not be put on the problem partition, so it's best to mount the drive on another machine as a slave and use the donor machine to do the recovery.

A free recovery program that may work can be found at http://www.pcinspect.../uk/welcome.htm

good luck and do backup next time :tazz:
