Removing Unwanted Programs

I thought it would be a good idea to ask here. I have "Googled" various combinations of removing these toolbars but ultimately I was concerned I might download an "uninstaller" which was really malware then end up here. So I guess you could say this is preventive maintenance. And I know better than to touch the registry myself.

I have no idea how these items got on the computer since they were there when I bought the computer.
