I want to create an alphabetical (stand alone) index for a 10 MB .rtf text file. An index that would not be part of the original text document. Ideally, I would like to be able to have the index divided into topics and look something like this (word and page numbers)

BOATS
Bertha 6, 4, 77
Farallon 66, 101
Humbolt 3, 66,

SURNAMES
Hartfeld, James 2,3, 23, 56, 71
Johnson, Bert 11, 23, 25-26, 98
Kelch, John 6, 46, 54

Can anyone suggest software that will do this for me?

Thank you,
Wasilla
