Uninstall:

Java™ 6 Update 29
Yahoo! Toolbar
Adobe AIR
Apple Mobile Device Support
Toshiba App Place

The first one is obsolete - you have a newer version. Second is just foistware. Third, fourth and fifth are not working correctly. If you use them then download the latest versions, right click and Run As Admin when you reinstall them.

You have one odd error. See if you can follow the instructions in Post #35 in this thread: http://www.sevenforu...tml#post1917907

Once you do that then

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then the Event Viewer. Next select Windows Logs. Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application.
Reboot.
Run VEW again as before and post the logs.

I am not seeing anything that would cause the shutdowns. Generally since there is no blue screen we are looking at a hardware error or heat error. You might see if Toshiba had a newer BIOS but my bet would be something is overheating. See if the power supply feels really warm. Perhaps it's at fault. Otherwise perhaps a cooling tray might help. Big Lots usually has them for about $10-13.

Ron

PS. Parade was fun but was really more for our dog's benefit. He has had a tendency to want to be nasty to other dogs. We borrowed a shock collar and have been zapping him when he got aggressive. This was sort of his final exam. We were with a bunch of other dogs in the parade and he didn't need to be zapped the whole time so I guess he has learned his lesson. Good thing as we have to give the collar back on Monday.

Well, it sounds like congratulations may be in order for your pacified pooch then! As for my problematic PC, the ESET scan has completed and the log is pasted below. Re: your latest reply, should I complete those steps before completing the final step of your initial reply (bitdefender, I believe?) Thanks again for all your help and patience in continuing to assist me, Ron.
