I have a Toshiba tecra notebook running XP with external speakers. In fact, the internal sound had been fairly good. The sound card is a Realtec AC97. All of a sudden the internal sound is extremely low, and with the speakers it's much lower than it was. All settings [control panel and speakers themselves] are set to maximum volume. I downloaded new drivers for the sound card. No change. Can anyone explain what might be causing this? The speakers are fine - I tried them on a different computer.
