Hi everyone,

My PC has been infected with this randomly. It started to happen a few days ago. AVG detects it and it pops up as a critical/system file.
Also, my google searches would just re-direct me to other sites/ads almost all the time. I assume this virus is also involved with this problem as well? Please help. This is starting to get really annoying now.

Hi I will need some data first

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    services.*
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Media\WMSDK\Local\AutoProxyCache /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs

THEN

Download aswMBR.exe ( 4.8mb ) to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it Click the "Scan" button to start scan

On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

I found this thread a few hours after I posted my problems here.
http://www.geekstogo...e-patched-clzi/

I just went ahead and followed the steps there since that person seems to be having the same problem as me also.
And I wanted to just get rid of this nasty virus ASAP since it was super annoying and I didn't want any other future problems if I was on my PC for a long time.
Followed all the instructions there and it seems the problem on my PC is gone. Everything is so far, so good.
Thanks a lot for trying to solve the problem anyways.
I'll let ya know if the problem comes back or other problems in the future(hopefully this won't come back!).
