Hello. I have noticed many other people on here have had the same problem and I have yet to find someone who has found a solution. Here is the problem.

PROBLEM

The only thing that comes up when I start up the computer is my background. I can move my mouse around too but my icons, start bar, everything has disappeared. I have to use Task Manager to start programs up and it is very irritating. Someone please help me out.

PS...I noticed that in Task Manager that the process Explorer.exe is not there and I am pretty sure it supposed to be. I think this may be where the whole problem lies. Please someone help me out ASAP. Thanks!

theres a file that you can check to see what shell windows is trying to use usually its shows as "shell=Explorer.exe" but if you tried using a different shell like aston or somthing of the like it would change the shell=value.
I can't for the life of me remember what file it is either anyone else know what the file is???

you might need to do a repair from the windows cd.
otherwise you might have to restart fresh and totally reinstall windows.
or try to get a copy of explorer.exe from someone.
are you using windows XP?
